During the pre-game warmups before Wednesday night's NBA match against the Oklahoma City Thunder at the Suns' Footprint Center, Kevin Durant unfortunately slipped and suffered an ankle injury. This mishap prevented Durant from making his anticipated home debut for the Phoenix Suns. A video captured Durant slipping as he attempted a shot near the basket, causing him to roll his ankle. Despite managing to rise and continue his practice, he exhibited cautious movement for the remainder of the session. Shortly after, the Suns announced that the 34-year-old would be unable to participate in the game. Consequently, Torrey Craig was selected to replace Durant in the starting lineup
Following the Phoenix Suns' decisive 132-101 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder, Phoenix's head coach Monty Williams delivered an injury update on Durant. "We currently don't have any official updates to provide," Williams informed the reporters. Williams mentioned that further examinations are scheduled for Thursday, and for the time being, the team is labeling the injury as an ankle sprain. Durant's ankle twist while preparing for a game is accepted as a part of life by Coach Williams, empathizing with Durant's frustration. Durant joined the Suns after healing from an MCL sprain and has contributed to their recent victories, averaging 26.7 points and 7.3 rebounds in three games. In Durant's absence, the Suns easily defeated the Thunder with Devin Booker scoring 44 points, advancing to 37-29 and nearing higher seeds in the Western Conference. Coach Williams remains optimistic about Durant's recovery and return, as the Suns face upcoming games against the Kings, Warriors, Bucks, and Magic.
